Opera Australia casting child performers for La Bohème and The Magic Flute (Sydney Summer 2027)

Description: Opera Australia is looking for 12 child choristers for La Bohème and two casts of three children for The Magic Flute, both at the Sydney Opera House in its 2027 summer season. Rehearsals start in late November 2026 and performances run until March 2027. Shortlisted children are invited to in-person auditions on 10 and 12 October 2026 at the Opera Centre in Surry Hills, with possible callbacks on 13-14 October.
Requirements: La Bohème: ages 10-15, up to 165 cm, unbroken treble voice. The Magic Flute: ages 9-16 (still 16 at the last show), up to 155 cm, unbroken treble voice, comfortable being flown on wires up to 8 m. Must be Sydney-based within 90 minutes of the venues, hold Australian/NZ citizenship, permanent residency or a valid work visa, and be available for the whole schedule. An adult must accompany the child to auditions.
Pay: Pay not stated in the casting brief (the roles require the right to work in Australia).
